Just listened to the whole thing for the first time in a minute and damn I forgot how effortlessly they transition from dm to psych feeling sound. About to get high as giraffe pussy for this show

I saw an interview with Paul recently but I can't remember if they said they were using the same guy for synths on this new american leg. When they toured with Cannibal Corpse and Gorguts Colin Marston came out and did synths for them for a little bit, but he also did exclusively synths the last time I saw Krallice so idk if he'd be doing keys for both sets, prob not.

"I forgot how effortlessly they transition from dm to psych feeling sound" I think the thing that keeps me from 5ing this is how slapdash a lot of the transitions feel tbh. They don't so much effortlessly transition as opposed to just not really trying imo. Like, instead of voice leading a guitar lead into a prog part or making some effort to musically decrescendo from the loud parts over a period of time, maybe include some harsher vocals within the prog to have some textural through lines, they just sort of slap a prog rock section right after a dm one, or vice versa. But having a sense of adventure and being able to suspend your disbelief allows one to look past that, and the content within each section, despite the asynchronicity, is excellently written.

the transitions feeling disconnected is like my main complaint. i think the transitions worked much better on Luminescent Bridge. I'd like to hear something more like that, but fleshed out a bit more.

Yeah, they should have done more to keep at least traces of the dm feel in the prog rock sections instead of just doing Zepplin worship parts with no style tweaks to ground it more in their reality.

Not saying that it ISN'T GOOD. This is an amazing record, all things considered. The lack of cohesion is just the music's main flaw. I still would be excited too, have fun for me.

Ftr Edge of Sanity's Crimson also lacks that kind of cohesion between sections but it was mostly written in a day and mostly a metal record with brief rock sections. while also disjointed it still mostly feels tonally consistent because it's just metal stapled onto more metal. This switches tone and pacing a whole lot more which is more noticeable.
