If I remember the most accessible BM band is Deafheaven isn't it?

I'd say there's plenty of choices for that title, but yes, Deafheaven is definitely one of them lol.

I mean Root is kind of one of them too since the lead sings more in a operatic style. Kind of like if Christopher Lee did black metal.

I've only jammed Root's debut and it kinda blows.

"Dimmu and Cradle are the gateway BM bands tho"
Agree. I got into bm through Dimmu back in the day

Cradle and Dimmu were definitely the main ones that got me into bm. Throw Borknagar and Enslaved in there too.

Borknagar SHOULD be but only people actually in the scene know them, in my experience. Usually folks just go "heheh, bork bork" when I mention them.

Nah they're amazing. The Archaic Course and Empiricism both are directly responsible for getting me heavy into bm, along with some others of course, but their whole discog rips with the exception of the new one for me.
