John Zorn? Yeah, I like his work a lot. I like Painkiller quite a bit but I think that my favorite Zorn grind is still Naked City's Torture Garden, maybe Grand Guignol.

I shamefully know relatively little about the guy, I know/have heard of his influence more than I’ve actually spent time hearing his stuff first-hand. I just coincidentally came across Painkiller, so I was curious.

Some of the sax on this Buried Secrets album is pretty insane to say the least, feels like the unravelling of reality (or some other bullshit).

Zorn has some pretty insane music in general. You should listen to his other records if you like Painkiller, Naked City or solo, he has a good number of quite good stuff.

I’ll give Naked City a go, this sounds weird but I presumed an experimental jazz/grind album would annoy me way more than it actually did (with very little tangible evidence), so if that’s the closest fit I’d be happy to try it out.

Yeah, just know that his work is very varied. Hell, he has one of the first drone metal records, and that's like the total opposite of grind.
