By the age of 12 I was able to fully comprehend Autechre’s seminal work ‘Cornfield.’ This revelation made it glaringly apparent to my parents that I was MENSA bound.

By the age of 8, I could make a complete analysis of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Aus den sieben Tagen. This made me realize that I'm fucking autistic.

If this is the most honest record they've written how come it doesn't show off any of their musical abilities?

Because their musical abilities were a lie

Honest in that they're not struggling with their beliefs anymore. I won't doubt that the instrumentation took a step back at all, but it feels like this was far easier to create than the last few because they weren't struggling as much and were more so reflecting on their past struggles.

It'd be nice to see an album follow this up and showcase more of their older schtick but honestly I'm still fine with this.

I gave it another listen tonight, still vibes with me.

Tim, Aaron, and Chris are still Christians. Grant and James I'm not sure of but I think they are. Spencer is the only one who isn't Christian anymore. Dude sounds like me when I denounced religion when I was 14 now though lol

I think what they need is to pool their heavier influences again if they follow this up. There's still potential, I know the more popcore approach here is polarizing but I certainly wouldn't consider it bad.
