Both destroy the black album though. Its good but at the same time, I kinda forget it exists.

Death Magnetic is grossly underrated. And nothing really destroys the black album. Yeah, it's massively overplayed but before everyone was tired of it before the century turned, it was arguably their best album or at least in the conversation. The production is stellar as well.

The Black Album is a great singles album but everything else is fine but a tad forgettable. Kill Em All and Death Magnetic are solid from beginning to end.

The crowd energy during Enter Sandman is undeniable. Even if you don't care for that song anymore, you'd enjoy the shit out of it for those 5 minutes during the live show when every person not on the floor is blasting the chair back in front of them to the beat of that floor tom....
And if not, you a boring muthafucker

I do like it but it is the Metallica album I return to the least, probably out of overexposure. Outside of St. Anger obviously.

Maybe I ought to listen to it again, I guess. It's been a while outside The Unforgiven. I love that track.

Futures dude that opening riff of Holier is piercingly heavy.....love it!

This is way better than the Black Album but that’s not to say the latter is bad. It’s a great album after 4 amazing albums.

Metallica would still be playing arenas if it wasn't for the 1991 self-titled album. A 'Big 4' thrash band achieving what they did with that record is insanity. One of the best selling albums of the Soundscan era by a group of guys that wrote songs like Battery, Phantom Lord, and Ktulu. It represents metal as a whole to the masses all over the world. I'm not saying people have to like it of course, but damn man you gotta respect and appreciate what it did.
Stone cold 5 for me.
