scream and california are two of the worst pop songs of the last several decades and not a single song on here is much better than either of those so yeah.
|
| |
it just so happens that Venus reminds me of Gwen Stefani a little bit which makes it mildly more tolerable than all the others.

i still love kill v maim and flesh without blood but scream is definitely one of the worst tracks I've heard all year
|
| |
curious as to how you can rationalize giving this a 4 when u agree it contains one of the worst tracks of the year
i dunno about you but for me a 4/5 indicates the entire album is pretty much extremely solid. 3.5 and below is when one or two average and poor tracks start trickling in...

you can ignore a couple bad songs if the rest of the album is stellar
|
| |
obviously, but as an album it damages its quality and to ignore that is pretty much throwing objectivity out the window. 4's and 4.5's etc shouldnt have bad songs.
|
| |
I can imagine a lot of this being played on the radio alongside Miley Cyrus and Imagine Dragons.
That being said I despise that voice.

i dunno like I can quite easily overlook a really bad track and focus on the stuff I love
but my rating has floated between about 3.5 and 4 ever since it came out, usually depends if i've been in the mood for it or not

I mean yea u can, but on the rating ignoring bad tracks is a bit dishonest don't you think?

"obviously, but as an album it damages its quality and to ignore that is pretty much throwing objectivity out the window. "
i don't rate objectively
"4's and 4.5's etc shouldnt have bad songs."
meh. I'd have barely any 4s and above then
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.5
i don't think it's dishonest as when I'm rating an album like the rating is 70% from personal enjoyment and like 30% my objective opinion or something like that
|
| |
"i don't rate objectively"
there is a difference between rating objectively and merely having a sense of objectivity when it comes to music. its the thing that helps you refrain from blowing shit out of the water with hype and ignoring its flaws or shitting all over something and ignoring its positives. a credible music listener forms their opinions through a delicate balance of subjectivity and objectivity, people who ignore the objective component are disreputable and subject to avoiding the effects of their own biases on their experience.

| |
not that rating really matters that much its not a big deal but JS it just strikes me as odd to 4 something that has shit songs.
