im a lilm bit drunk and this album disproportionately fucks me in in this mental state

that rating is baffling. but i guess if theres some aspect of the bands style that didnt click with you, it might be hard to look past.

Pro tip: don’t listen to this when you’re in a sad/lonely/self-pitying mood
It absolutely does not help

Is this band ever going to make anything new?

We can hope.

They're a small, humble band with families. I don't think music is their focus atm. Even though this one turned out to be a huge hit.

Eh it’s a huge hit on this site, but I barley see it mentioned elsewhere (and of course I’ve never met anyone irl who knows then)

I mean, I can respect this band pulling a Neutral Milk Hotel. It's totally fine. I was just wondering.

Here Is Where has like 300,000 listens on spotify so people definitely listen to this band. It's a huge hit here for the most part, but elsewhere many sites gave it high acclaim.

Glad people jam them because I haven’t heard of this band outside of this site either lol.

I can’t believe this album didn’t blow the fuck up everywhwre. Such wide emotional appeal

True, but there’s nothing on here that you can really throw into your average “a few bros over on a Friday night” playlist. Like, nothing’s really group-setting-appropriate (and that’s absokutely not meant to trash music that is)
Like everything on here is either loud as fuck and emotionally taxing or really quiet and somber and emotionally taxing

Like if I were to describe this to some I’d call it a mix of Frightened Rabbit and Glósóli by Sigur Ros, and while the former has some wide appeal (although it’s maybe a bit sadder in context right now), the latter isn’t the kind of thing that you throw on when you’ve got the aux cord, you know?
|
| |
That literally means nothing considering how many albums fit that exact description and are universally loved and well known in some way or another.
If anything, I think their label just ruined their shots of getting some traction off this record back in the day. There isn't even a Bandcamp stream for this record, the one site they would've gotten a lot of attention given that the record was around for streaming then.

Yeah idk you’re probably right. Just trying to guess why it wouldn’t have gained quite as much traction as similar indie rock bands.

So after a long year's listening, this has become my favourite record of all-time. It reaches deep into the soul and moves me in ways no other record has ever managed to do. It's an absolute treasure.
