Thanks guys, think I'm going for the best of both worlds & starting here. That way I'll have some context & if I enjoy it I'll also be extra psyched for the new one. I wouldn't want to rush through their earlier releases in addition to this as I want to properly digest each one, the others can wait till afterwards (providing stage 1 of my dastardly plan was a success).

Some of the solos on this thing are insane, probably my favourite feature of the record. It's cool how you can decipher the lyrics, the 'strained' style of vox suits the doomier side of DM. I do find the slower pace slightly meandering at times, it's not really a groovy DM record, there's more focus on the atmosphere. It does however serve to highlight the higher tempo sections.

those two used to be my favorites on this. haven't listened to it in ages tho, I go back to Nekropsalms more often.
