because, like, most of these songs are boring and not very good

but, like, no, not at all. a lot of people probly feel alienated by it being laid back and electro driven, especially after the more accessible in rainbows. also, what downer said

"i think radiohead always defined themselves in opposition to the audience's expectations (nobody expected ok computer after the bends, nobody expected kid a after that, nobody expected the "return to normalcy" of in rainbows, etc.). this may sound like a bad thing to define yourself by but at the very least radiohead were always smart about it and made really good music"

You totally forgot Hail To the Thief

[about kol rmx] It's pretty pathetic that this is their best album.

still absolutely boggles my mind tbh cause that means you can tolerate thom's voice and the sometimes strange instrumentation.

ok, you don't like radiohead, but why throw yourself at the mercy of fanboys like me who will lynch you for commenting dislike with less than articulate reasoning?

I actually rather dislike his voice but in the remix album it seems less prominent idc.

"ok, you don't like radiohead, but why throw yourself at the mercy of fanboys like me who will lynch you for commenting dislike with less than articulate reasoning?"

Basically, I'm not afraid to admit when I like or dislike an album, and I don't see why I should be.

you're right in saying that fear of expression should be avoided, but right now you're flaunting a discenting opinion across the

board with little to no reasoning. of course you're entitled to, but it only leads me to believe your views are shortsighted and

you're craving attention

I'm not flaunting my ratings, I just happen to have ratings that people don't like and therefore they/I stand out. Also, I've been in the Radiohead threads a lot lately because other people have, and I thought I'd join in for once in my life.

Believe me, I'd love to make a list about the magnitude of Radiohead's crapiness but that's never going to happen for obvious reasons haha. Also, no way am I craving attention. First of all I'm already getting tons as a new contributor. Secondly, it just isn't my character. I have written 156 reviews for the sake of getting people to listen to cool music, not for people to worship me.

to be honest, i'd much rather that than you popping up in 4 threads being like lol kid a is average, look at me i'm different, kthnxbye. i've had sobering conversations with gyromania and lucidity as they explain to me why they do not think radiohead's releases are ever exceptional. i see a lot of their points, disagree vehemently with a few, but in the end accept their pov and learned something from seeing it.

also, just to clarify, none of this is personal. i enjoy your presence on here and you have certainly given a lot to the site. i mean, contrib tags aren't exactly assigned randomly ..

Yeah, my rating is right in the middle, but I'm leaning more towards lowering my rating than raising it anytime soon. And yeah, I get what you're saying, Andy - I'd like to get more down to why the album works or doesn't work and leave the personal preference behind. It's interesting to hear perspective from both those who adore this record and those who dislike it. I explored why I somewhat dislike this album in my soundoff, but I could probably expand further on that now that I've heard this album several times.

everyone was in such a rush to explain their initial reaction to this album that not much attention is being paid to how it is aging. if you could expand on and flush out a review now, that might be interesting. i get how this could be considered merely good, but i don't get how this could be considered poor, which to me means if you hear it playing somewhere, you feel compelled to leave the room, or be visibly disturbed as it goes on. alas, i'm such a fanboy
