I literally didnt say anything about Periphery having "soul" btw, I just said they have more dynamic songwriting than Meshuggah do, both bands have their strengths, but clearly Meshuggah fans are too stubborn to acknowledge that.

Bruh no one here's a Meshuggah fan
|

he thinks we're Meshuggah fans cuz we gave positive ratings to shuggah albums and we made fun of Periphery (and Tundra by extension)

"no one heres a Meshuggah fan"
There is a clear bias towards Meshuggah, so that's an extremely nonsensical comment

I got more below-good ratings on Shuggah albums than I do Periphery, so if you’re gonna not get statistics at least be consistent with it, Boyo

I literally just looked and you have a Meshuggah album with a 4 and the highest for Periphery is a 2.5, what are you even on about. If you give an album by a band a 4, you're a fan, or at the very least a follower, that's more credit than you'll give to Periphery. Why did you even tell me to look at your ratings, so utterly pointless and irrelevant. And now you've derailed the discussion to childish jokes, were done here.

yes no fun allowed
also one 4 is not much tbf

if you were to ask this band if they think of themselves as better songwriters than meshuggah, the answer would be a resounding no.
|
| |
What's a Periphery song that sounds like a Meshuggah song?

I think the biggest problem with djent as a whole is that bands often sound so interchangeable with each other. so many of the groups have the exact same growl, same snarly "blehhhh", same whiny cleans, same "it's gr00vy bro you don't get it" riffs, same neutered production. not to mention the solely instrumental groups that can hardly be distinguished apart with the same formula of "wankity tappity djent djent" that it all becomes a slurry to listen to
