not sure why this record is so loved. they went full radio rock after badmotorfinger. pre-1992 soundgarden was so much more raw

I don't mean to say this is a bad record. its certainly good, but just has too much filler and isn't nearly as heavy as previous records

I haven't heard them before this album, actually. I think I was planning on checking Badmotorfinger at one point but never got around to it.

This album is a slightly mixed bag for me, too, but there are several songs on here I thoroughly enjoy.

This is so, so much better than early Soundgarden (even though I like early Soundgarden). Just because this isn’t as heavy doesn’t mean it isn’t better lol.

"not sure why this record is so loved. they went full radio rock after badmotorfinger. pre-1992 soundgarden was so much more raw"

Maybe it's so loved because it's got better songwriting, improved production, is in general much more accessible, spawned a multitude of CLASSIC jams as singles, and has several stunning deep cuts with pretty much zero filler and every song a gem, which is amazing considering that the album is 70 minutes and 15 songs long.

This is arguably the best album of the '90s, period.

I think this and Badmotorfinger are neck and neck but both are much better than their earlier material

not even close. way too much filler here. my wave, mailman, superunknown, head down, limo wreck, and like suicide are painfully boring. not to mention the production is WAY too clean. their previous records had better riffs, better production, and better song structures.

Oof, Mailman is lit tho, got such a sexy stoner rock vibe. Head Down is great too.

I'd agree on My Wave and the t/t tho, first time I ever saw someone else who doesn't love those two. Pretty uninteresting songs compared to the rest of the album

Damn. Not sure what to say to that, but I think you’re beyond help at this point. None of those songs are even close to being filler.

^ Mailman and Head Down I'll grant. The rest are all among the greatest grunge songs ever made.

I think if you let butch vig or steve albini remaster this album and cut out about 5 tracks, it would be a great record.
