K. Never been to England, so maybe the word isnt as bad there. In the US, the word Cunt is about as polarizing as it gets. Women consider it to be the worst word in the entire language. If you went up to another dude and said that to him with the intent to insult, there about a 75% chance you would have a fight on your hands, 99% if the guy has any balls whatsoever. Call a guy fat to insult, and that probably goes down to 50%, if not less.
It's as bad here. One of the few swear words that has any vitriol left in it.

I don't think there's a conspiracy, I just happen to remember EC calling MJ a cunt and it seemed hypocritical to ban a user and not a staff member for the same offense. Your explanation is plausible but I still think it's unfair. Where's the journalistic integrity in calling someone a cunt?

MJ had been belligerent since last night when Chan posted his history blog. This whole thing with Iluvatar was just the final event in a series of events. MJ can't deal with certain things and Iluvatar knows how to push his buttons and get him worked up - and it worked. Also, it's not like MJ didn't get a ton of warning. He had his posts deleted and he reposted them without the childish bullshit (proving that he knew what the issue was), but he couldn't contain it for very long. This whole conspiracy that he has convinced you of is bullshit. As for the EC thing, I don't doubt that he posted it but if everyone was banned for a single outburst then the site would be empty.

I see what you're getting at. The thing is that he wasn't banned for just calling a staff member fat. He had being antagonistic and confrontational for most of the day. As far as I know, nobody here has ever been banned for a single outburst (unless it was racist or whatever). I didn't want to ban him now, but he wouldn't stop even after being warned to cut the shit and just stick to the discussions.

basically some people were getting sick of MJ badgering them about why they like certain aspects of this album and they needed a reason to ban him. so they provoked him until he called Illuvitar "fat" and they gave him a 24 hour ban. No biggie really, especially because it's only 24 hours.
