ya I listened to both the other day. It's not exactly the same, but Neurosis has always been more about atmosphere and feel than originality of beats.
Not sure if they intentionally used it in Purify after that amazing build part, or if it just kind of naturally evolved.

i don't think they made conscious decision to make purify sound like eots but they do sound very similar
