"Honestly Dark Angel and Destruction might as well have a "thrash fans only" disclaimer"
Both bands have made material just as cutthroat and venomous as this. Just with better writing that invites far more listens.

@Casavir you would really play for a friend who's never heard thrash "burning of sodom" over "raining blood?"

I'd probably pick Hunger of the Undead or Death is Certain (Life is Not) for Darkness Descends. If I were to show someone this first, I'd definitely pick another track of Raining Blood despite being one of the better ones. Postmortem is easily the best track on this.

Postmortem is good though my fave is actually Angel of Death. Well good luck with that haha I really think you'd have way better luck with Slayer. I mean it's hard to understand a word from Darkness Descends, though it certainly has good qualities it's all the qualities that would be lost on a first-time listener.

Altar Of Sacrifice ftw.
I've always had difficulty thinking of this as pure 'thrash' tbh, in my mind it's automatically tagged with blackened, speed & death as well.

When this came out thrash was a good thing. Maybe the label has aged badly.

@SOurce Seasons is a really close second imo. RIB is more consistently good, but Seasons has more high points. I'll give the edge to RIB for sheer influence and impact though.
@Morningrise767 It does rule, but it's the worst 80's Slayer imo.
