Very, very wrong.

November Rain is overrated. Estranged is the real MVP.

Pretty much all the classics are overrated in terms of quality of music tbh. Making it a classic is about more then that though. It's about the zeitgeist and the way it formed and changed genres, which this certainly did back in the day.

Hmm... says the guy who's pie may as well say '100% dad rock', are you confused by all this new 'shouty stuff' kids listen to these days? You may as well have just said 'get off my lawn'.

Gladly, it looks old, tired and void of life, could do with a refresh.

Stating that any genre is irredeemably bad is nonsense, I think that's (generally) well established.

people just sperg out over metalcore because it's one of the only genres in metal that's actually consistently relatable on a lyrical level

"What does that even mean?" I had an answer to that, but my dog ate it for breakfast. He still hasn't crapped it out yet.

But in all seriousness, I don't really see a lot of other genres within the metal sphere tackle the lyrical themes that resonate with me the most as explicitly. Like, does anyone expect Cryptopsy or Annihilator to take on themes of powerlessness, love, depression, anxiety, etc.? Not really. And that's fine, they really aren't the type of bands you go to in that time of need. It's just that a lot of times, unless you veil it in 100 coats of pretentious symbolism, there's always going to be those people who are all like "ewwww angsty whiny emos!!!"
