"i feel like thanks nobuo was supposed to be the song that was meant to dethrone my faves but it just doesn't vibe quite right"

yepp nearly two years removed i agree that one was a swing and a miss. a bit overcooked imo

its weird bc it really should have worked for me...? bombastic, dramatic song built on intense emotions? usually that's my bread and butter. but satellites, absolomb and lune all kinda hit harder

Thanks Nobuo is a song that I struggle to listen to, and it's not because of itself particularly. It just happens to be the exact song I remember listening to when I was at my absolute lowest mentally. And it just brings back those moments. Great song but I can't really listen to it on a regular basis.

Satellites is my favorite Periphery song at this point I'm pretty sure. I will stan that track forever and always. Definitely their best closer, though Stranger Things is also a strong contender.

I was about to try to rank them, but Periphery is so good at closing tracks.

"Thank Nobuo" is a really heartfelt track for an album that feels a little more honest than some of their others. There's a lot of vulnerability on P:V it which is one of the reasons why it sat so well with me last year.

Satellites - Stranger Things - Thanks Nobuo - Lune - Racecar - Masamune for me.

All are good songs though. I never go back to the last two but I understand their appeal.

I just love how Masamune complete disintegrates into chaos by the end.

Racecar is the obvious loser for me. Unfortunately, I just don't get the hype for it.

yeah racecar is a good song but i've never really thought of it as like a crowning achievement like some people

I think I'd like Racecar a bit more if the last stretch of P1 wasn't such a chore to get through. Totla Mad and Ow My Feelings shouldn't have been on the album, they create an atrocious pacing near the end.

And then Racecar itself has some great moments but there's very little in it that wasn't already explored in the rest of the album. It also struggles to justify its length a little. It works, buy I rarely listen to it.

I listen to Racecar up until the "we haven't lost our sight" part, after that I skip lol
