This was the band that got compared to Deftones a lot right? I only heard The Cold Sun many years ago and just got on of their new singles in my stream-rec playlist. Will definitely check them out more.

the guitar tones on the new one are like, so far removed from what a guitar sounds like, that i can't even really comprehend how they achieved that sound. cool af.

Yeah, it sounds watery - very cool.

Idk if it's an unpopular opinion, but I think this would have benefited from not being quite a low tuned. Songs are good, guitar becoming borderline atonal due to pitch stability doesn't serve them.
Still like it though.

I really don't like this guitar tone on first listen but I'll give it some time to grow on me. On Gemini right now and this is wacky.

Yeah I like a lot of it and don’t like about as much. It’s gonna take a few listens for me, but I always respect when a band takes a big swing. They could’ve easily made I Let it In Part 2 and everyone would’ve creamed their pants but they didn’t, they really went for it here

Awful band agreed everyone.

I agree Wild, I'd much prefer them to swing big and do something different and creatively authentic than cave to fan service and do the popular thing part 2.
Yeah, hate this band, garbage sewage ass shit from a butt.

however what I was afraid of ended up happening: Gifted Every Strength was by far my favorite song they ever made the second they dropped it, and it’s easily the best song on the album

Phenomenal record. Was worth the grueling wait.
Block of Flats, The Way It Breaks, and the closer are absolute all timers. Also that acoustic ending to Gifted Every Strength that wasn't in the single version is stunningly gorgeous.

And yeah Jay, that acoustic bit is genuinely beautiful. When I saw that the album version of that song is like 2 fuckin mins longer I about shit myself, I really didn’t expect it to be an acoustic interlude. I commented this in the review thread but I’m a little confused why it’s not its own track, not like it wouldve been the only interlude like that…
but that’s beyond nitpicky, I guess I kinda wish that it was incorporated into the song itself somehow, like the song fades out like normal and then that starts… would’ve been really cool if they somehow figured out how to make that transition seamless.
