I always enjoyed DDTM, even tho it obviously doesnt reach the same heights as this or the self titled

I havent really gotten that into the lyrics of DDTM but as far as the other two goes NMG has just always resonated more with me.

As far as my favorites on this goes it is so hard to choose and it may vary but lately Gameshark, Lambert and Bastardizer has been up there for me. Obviously the title track and Grand Paradise too. And maybe Five Cups.. Ok almost every song lol

Eric said in an interview that one of the first times they played that live was supporting for someone else, and some kid did the jerk off motion while he was playing the solo lmao

I love the solo, and honestly he doesn’t have a single bad one that I can think of, but the thought of some kid doing that makes me laugh my ass off

I'm one of those I found them during the midwest emo phase, before that they were a punk sounding band. It's odd. I get it even Madonna apparently was in a punk band? Anyhow. Heh they just starting changing genres too much and I appreciate the idea of changing sounds. But comfort does fill the empty heart or something.

Also pour one out in five cups. Let's play beer pong. *sigh* Heh. That song rules in how it goes.

been listening to this so much more since they announced the breakup and I’m starting to think it might be better than the self titled… S/T has higher highs but lower lows. There isn’t a single miss on this thing.

Gameshark has really stood out to me even though I’ve always loved the chorus… but jesus h christ the lyrics are absolutely insane. Some of Conor’s best work across the board is on that track… normally someone writing out something like “dizygotic twin of god” would come across as pretentious but his delivery is so damn good.

Hearing Gameshark for the first time when they dropped it as the lead single was a jaw-dropping experience

When I was listening to it last night I was literally thinking how wild it must’ve been to have been a fan of Dealer and Albatross and then they drop this thing.

Fuckin massive 180, I like those earlier records a lot but they stepped up big time here imo, I didn’t really get into them until around when it came out

I ws/am a fan of Dealer and Albatross. I like this album, but haha the s/t was a bit much for me. The only song I like is the frozen heads one because it was slow. Heh. I just was not ready for a screamy hard-core Foxing album.

Oh I was begging for it, and I didn’t think we’d get it.

I literally remember having a conversation with a friend of mine the week that Draw Down the Moon dropped that I hoped they would go in a heavier/shoutier direction hinted at on 737 and If I Believed in Love (and a handful of songs from the first 3 records). He immediately shot it down because of how pop influenced that record was and I thought he was right all the way until Hell 99 dropped… like that was EXACTLY what I wanted from the band and I felt very vindicated lol

Imo they delivered, this and the self titled are fucking masterpieces, and this band’s versatility even a full year later is astonishing to me. I’m not gonna get my hopes up too high for them getting back together, let alone another album, but I can’t help but wonder what direction they’d go in with a potential sixth LP.

And hey, idk how much of the self titled you’ve listened to but there’s a couple easier going moments. Greyhound feels like it was lifted directly from this record to me, Barking is pretty much just a straightforward alt rock song, Cleaning is pretty bare but Conor sounds great on it and the lyrics are devastating, and then ya there’s Hall of Frozen Heads, which just feels like a (really fucking good) Dealer song.

But ya, to me at least, most of the rest of the record borrows heavily from screamo

I do like Screamo in bursts. I posted on the Saddest Landscape here hehe I also never heard Smidley. So I guess I just never expected Foxing to be so aggressive. That Hell song and some others I heard it was just too much of a cacophony of noise.

How have I skipped over this? Really was only a fan of a few songs and the last 2 Foxing albums. I added “Won’t Drown” at one point and forgot about it. Came up in shuffle the other day and I thought, “damn this is good.” Listening to it all now and wow, this is so good.

I'm not a big fan of the s/t either. This one and Dealer are more my style.

I love the s/t but this one is insanely good too, band is so goddamned underrated and it pisses me off to no end

Conor’s side project, which I guess is gonna be his main project now, Smidley, is worth checking out too. I wouldn’t be shocked if he dropped a new record next year, the Foxing Patreon had demos up for it
