its not often that the same producer does both albums but the production on them turns out COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

voices sound a lot more similar on the earlier records [2]

I think on OTIP the differences became much more obvious.

Yeah, some of these mid tempo songs are really hitting me now. The title track in particular is excellent.

Title track is awesome. Probably the best on the album. Can’t stop drinking was a pretty immediate one for me too.

The lyrics are the saving grace of I Can't Stop Drinking. Sound-wise, It's pretty boring in my opinion.

After a couple more listens, I like it a lot more. The constant attachment to midtempo melancholy is a little lackluster, but the lyrics stand out way more than they do on the last few albums. A lot of these hit really hard, which is funny since the singles were all fairly lighthearted.

worst tom song on here and it's still amazing. the "i've been told there's no going home" verse is one of my favourite moments on this record

It's the best Tom song that's not on OtIP to me. Amazing verses and a huge catchy chorus.

Love this album through and through, but the title track is on a totally different level. What’s crazy is that’p not a knock against the rest of the album, but just a testament to how good the title track is.
