their run up until/including this album is kinda legendary especially when taking into account lineup changes and band (jonny craig) drama

most people seem to like ArSe but I'd still argue that the oversaturation of their existance/the tilian era really started setting in at that point. id love if they would either take a break (which isn't happening) or do a complete 180 on us but idk what id even want from them at that point

would much rather hear new Secret Band at this point

yeah ArSe and AB really solidified (what I think is) the decline of the band. their record sales and streaming numbers definitely don't reflect that feeling, but I think that the band lost something.

also (unpopular opinion) I think that Tilian is not a great songwriter, and it becomes even more evident with each release. always tries to shoehorn some cheesy/corny crap and tends to stick to the same subject matter over and over.

His solo stuff/ToM showcases his songwriting abilities better I think. Not sure how much he contributed to his first 3 w/DGD but w/e he was doing worked. ArSe less so, but that's grown on me immensely. AB is not good though and I'm worried the next record will continue the diminishing returns.

I just think most people shit on the band now because Afterburner was the first time most felt letdown. AS is a great record, and a solid follow-up to Mothership. It's just not as great.

I think next to Acceptance Speech it's my most revisited DGD of Tilian era. I love this record but I think hit it a little too hard for a year or two. Still burnt out on it.

Hope they bring some fresh ideas with their next album, which is being worked on right now actually.

Tilian better bring back those Instant Grat melodies and choruses. He's fallen off more and more with each release. Though he was good on here

Today is the day I can say Tillian is better in DGD than in Tides of Man.
