You can't lend a Tool album, let alone a progressive album to someone who listens to trendy mainstream stuff so what did you expect? People that listen to that stuff are not open minded.

Well people that stay within a certain niche (whatever that niche may be) is usually a sign against them being open minded about a subject. And if you're trying to make someone into trendy mainstream stuff expand their horizons, something prog-related probably isn't the best choice, agreed.

Well I'm talking about someone who listens to mainstream dubstep and radio music. But yea prog is just not easy to digest for lots of my friends. Like I had Arriving Somewhere But Not Here by Porcupine Tree playing in my car the other day, and my best friend, who only listens to rap says to me, "so are they gonna sing in this song or what?" lol

Haha I definitely get that. It's hard finding stuff that'll really capture their interest (I think for some it's even borderline impossible seeing as they don't seem to care about anything until they hear it on the radio).
Had a similar situation where indie was playing in the car and my friend kept complaining about how there was no energy and it was putting him to sleep.
