1's should be rare because people should listen to music because it's been recommended to them, not to raise their objectivity rating. If you have the same number of 1's as 5's, that means you're either rating albums you haven't listened to or listening to bad music on purpose.

Honestly when I hear something that's 1-worthy I stop listening to it, which means I don't get to the end which means I can't rate it because I haven't heard the whole thing. Why should you waste time listening to music you already know is shit?

i listen to pretty much everything i can find in the hopes that i will enjoy it and have new music to appreciate, but relative to everything i've listened to, i found very few meritless enough to warrant a 1

people who go out of there way to listen to bad music are stupid. i only listen to an album after sampling it and seeing if i like it tbh. i don't like wasting my time

I agree with you from a personal standpoint, Ocean as I'm the same, if something's awful I don't bother listening to it enough to rate it. However, I understand that's not the case for everyone. I also think when it comes to something as anticipated as the new Opeth album people will listen enough to rate it even if they do find it truly awful, even if it's simply to have an opinion and be able to engage in the discussion, which could lead to a large number of legitimate 1's which shouldn't just be dismissed as troll ratings.
