tracks 2 and three are the worst here
false

"the vocal refrain in give up the ghost is just annoying
first 2 or 3 tracks prevent this from being completely uninteresting"
Finally somebody else that views this meh album the same way I do.

its gonna be a looooong wait for another radiohead lp.
http://pitchfork.com/news/44298-radiohead-heading-back-into-the-studio/
you were saying?
also, i'm actually considering 5ing this... both Live from the Basement and TKOL RMX just really make me appreciate this album even more than i already did, and i loved this thing on first listen.

^^ haha -- i posted that link as a news item for sputnik but it got rejected. good thing sputnik told me about a new song each by young guns and doomtree cause those are bands that actually matter

real talk: this isn't very good
i think radiohead always defined themselves in opposition to the audience's expectations (nobody expected ok computer after the bends, nobody expected kid a after that, nobody expected the "return to normalcy" of in rainbows, etc.). this may sound like a bad thing to define yourself by but at the very least radiohead were always smart about it and made really good music
and i feel like they were sort of stuck after in rainbows and directionless and were just like "fuck it" and released some half-baked tracks and jam sessions as their way of -unleashing something totally unexpected- (see: the fact that this thing is eight tracks long, the fact that nobody knew about it until right before it was released) and that plan backfired on them because, like, most of these songs are boring and not very good. so, (note to james blake and das racist), artists should probably stop doing that whole 'releasing things seemingly for the purpose of frustrating your loyal fanbase' thing

about half of it is acceptable/good but not very exciting.
other half is downright monotonous. i can't understand someone listening to "morning mr. magpie" or "little by little" and being like "WOW this is good!"
|
| |
"Bloom", "Magpie", "Lotus Flower", "Little By Little", and "Codex" are all exceptional. The rest aren't as good - hence the 4.

this is approximately the opposite of my opinion
little by little totally sounds like a (not particularly good) b-side.

thom's vocals really make that track in my opinion

That's why this is a "grower" album. When first gave this a spin to be honest, I thought it was shit.
