I could not decide what would be mine. Possibly Close to the Edge.

@Fripp: I can narrow that down for you: I'd never call Hot Rats a prog album. Sure it has some elements, but its mostly jazz fusion.

Oh so we're counting Zappa? I guess Fragile isn't my favorite then.

I just wouldn't jam Yes as much as I'd jam Floyd, Camel, Rush, Gen, or KC, but that's just me.

You Are What You Is and We're Only in It for the Money are obviously not prog soo my 5 are:

1.One Size Fits All

2.Fragile

3.Animals

4.Mirage (only heard 1 Camel album so far, but wow it was brilliant)

5.Meddle

Seriously, any of you haven't heard heard One Size Fits All, get on it.

According to Prog Archives, Zappa belongs to a prog sub genre called RIO Avant-prog. Same category as Henry Cow or Thinking Plague.

Silly people Zappa doesn't belong to any one genre. All of them belong to him. He's even does country a few times and 80s rap (once)

@Ars: sweet. They're different from Mirage, so it might take a couple listens to adjust. I'd suggest you jam some Floyd before getting into either, it might set you in the mood.
