Holy smokes, a 2.5 for this album is ridiculous

That’s me with Alcest or There Will Be Fireworks lol though I haven’t been on here as often lately. Been busy.

"Wtf the empty spaces are exactly what makes this great"
yup, I dont like the term empty though.

There’s no empty space on this album though. That implies there’s just pointless silence on this but all the quieter parts on this serve a purpose and have something to say.

I’m the opposite. I’m less a fan of their earlier stuff and prefer Panopticon on.

What can I say fellas, this just doesn't grip me in any way. I'll def come back to it later though. I want to love this but I can't help how I feel.

Yeah, that's why so it's really frustrating that I can't get into this. Oceanic was phenomenal. I think I need to give this some space so I don't get stuck comparing it. This is obviously its own thing.

if anything Oceanic feels more sparse than this imo

There are definitely sparse moments on Oceanic but it's a lot more musically engaging to me ("Weight" is just an absolute stunner). "Backlit" is the only one here that was truly effective imo. But again, I'm hoping this will click with time.

This whole band was a grower for me. After years of not listening I came back and boom, mega fan.

In Fiction, So Did We, Syndic Calls and Altered Course are pretty much mind blowing. This is definitely their best album imo.
