Yeah, I feel like the Explosions in the Sky or even the GY!BE “crescendo-core” style of post-rock ought to be considered a separate subgenre.

i agree about explosions in the sky for sure but idk about gybe. not even into that band but i think of them differently than explosions in the sky / twdy / christian sounding post rock

It's not a brainstretcher to see them as seperate waves imo, if anything it's just a shame that 00s post-rock didn't have anything like the diversity of early shit
Godspeed are a slightly different kettle of fish to EITS ig, bc they played a big role in bridging the gap between the punk / slowcore school of post-rock and straight crescendocore along with Mogwai. Explosions are just silly twinkles
