First thoughts: "Well, the soft bits are really nice but the growls completely ruin things"
Oh how times have changed

This is the album that basically got me into the heavier side of metal

@Choccy his clean vocals and the softer moments in general are major highlights of the album for me. With songs like Ghost of Perdition they found an absolutely perfect blend of heavy and smooth.
I still don't manage to digest growls within any other band though

This isn't one of those I remember jamming for the first time, but I certainly remember BWP that's for sure.

BWP was my first exposure to harsh vocals, difficult memory to erase

My introduction to Opeth was Heritage; still among my favourites today.

My first huge enjoyment of harsh vocals was Alcest. Will forever thank them for that.

Just jammed BWP yesterday. Rules hard, but still not one of their best imo.

It's Opeth being Opeth and so is Watershed, but they still both rule.

Pretty much, they added a dash of more Prog compared to previous efforts but that's it. They found that winning formula and they managed to keep it worthwhile.
