Man that was a fun listen. To the people moralizing about listening to it, Steph was shitposting about it from the Sol Invicto account.
Such a good album. It has the rawness of the early material like adrenaline with the refined sense of melody of pony and wrist. I think this does what they would try to do on Gore and later with Private music so much better. Might even prefer this over Diamond Eyes even if it doesn't touch Koi.

THIS is your rationalization for listening to an unfinished leak they shelved out of respect for their dead friend?

I *really* hope, although likely won't ever happen, they'll end up releasing the album in some capacity since the genie is out. all proceeds could go towards Chi's family or some charity of their choosing, at least as a way for some kind of good to come out of this whole thing.
It's such a beauty, despite how raw and unfinished it is...I really want to give back somehow.

Eros is all so good. I’d say Candy and maybe Margot are the least memorable at this point but it’s all solid. Some of it is phenomenal — Destiny, Diamond, Briana, Smile and Brenda are all top tier.
It reminds me the most of KNY out of all their albums for sure. One of the tracks, I think it was Melanie, even sounds similar to an early stage version of Poltergeist (which is such an underrated Deftones track to begin with).

I wanna say it’s a 4.5 but I’m also excusing some of the unfinished nature of it. In complete form, it’s probably a 5.

i do kind of wonder if eros leaked in part because the band was planning an official release in some capacity. like this has been a highly sought holy grail kept perfectly under wraps for almost 20yrs... what changed?

It’s a good question, but I dunno, I just think it happened when a person who had access chose to take advantage. Saw a payday, or desperately needed money, or whatever. Because as I understand it, the original leaker had been selling copies to fans on a forum/forums.

Briana is too fucking good man (did this used to be Dallas? Been awhile since I hear the snippet of that or whatever).
Instantly one of my favorite Deftones songs (even though it can be argued ut isn’t technically an official Deftones song in a way). One of their best “ballad” type tracks for sure. Waaaaaayyy better than Sextape (overrated), maybe even better than beauty school (which is one of my favorite Deftones songs).
I also love that 70% of this page are my posts lol. Makes me look like some deranged schizo having Deftones discussions with myself lol. Hold on, wait…
