I definitely think tracks like 2,459 Miles and the closer could be considered "weak" by themselves but they work in the context of the album as a whole. Unfortunately I still can't make myself like Matadors. I wish the melody in the chorus was stronger.

i played this album too much when it came out and now i have very little desire to return to it. it's fantastic and among their best, but i doubt it's gonna have the same replay value as brother, sister and catch for us the foxes.

The thing we run into a lot with the staff vote is that it's just that - a vote. Sometimes our #1 isn't even the #1 of any individual on staff, but rather the one that showed up the most in the #5-#15 range. That's what happened with SWB in 2017 iirc.
