There's like one song on there with any name recognition.

Name another actual big hit other than The Trooper off that record, everything else seems like it fell under the radar in terms of "greatest hits".

Watch any live version of Revelations and then come back and tell me how that song isn't popular among their fans

Where the fuck are any of those on any hits comp. Literally where. Not even the one with Ed Hunter has those.

wait, who cares about hits?

It proves not even the band cares about the album much.

From Kerrang:
“For me, Piece Of Mind was the best album we'd done up to then, easily,” said Steve.
They're not so big in Number of the beast for a few reasons, but I think they like Pieve of Mind quite well

So it was their label snubbing Piece of Mind's popularity and not the band themselves? Typical EMI...

I saw them play Where Eagles Dare,Trooper and Revelations all in the same night dunno why this guy thinks the band doesn't care about that album lol
The only reason Piece Of Mind gets overlooked is because it came out between two absolute classics

And yet only one of those ever got released on anything other than the album itself.

only weak song on piece of mind is quest for fire
its a much more constant album in terms of individual quality of the songs than this one
both rule, though, i prefer piece just by inches

"And yet only one of those ever got released on anything other than the album itself."
would be cool if you actually took the time to have a look at their compilations and live albums

I looked up their compilations to double check. Ed Hunter just has The Trooper, Best of the Beast just has The Trooper, Somewhere Back in Time just has The Trooper, you didn't even mention Flight of Icarus which is the only other track on a couple comps (Edward the Great, The Essential Iron Maiden).

To me, there are four gems here that should be mandatory on any live set: Caught Somewhere In Time, The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner, Deja Vu, and Alexander The Great

"Best of the Beast just has The Trooper" and Where Eagles Dare...Different versions i guess?
Anyway, they play those songs kinda often live so both the fans and the band like them that's my point

@Flames: yeah its on the limited edition. i was just trying to figure out why standard editions didn't have much from the album. feels like one hit and a bunch of deep cuts with a cult following.

"only weak song on piece of mind is quest for fire"
I could never get into Revelations or To Tame a Land, but I definitely dig Quest and every other track on PoM

Also, as for popular cuts off there, my local rock station only ever plays 3 Iron Maiden songs over the last idek how many years, and two of them are off PoM (trooper and flight). And flight is the one they play the most frequently
