Isn't this the only sad sufjan album? Besides this I've only heard adz and Illinois

this is definitely the saddest but seven swans has a similar stripped down sound and it at least for me gives somewhat sad vibes

Illinois is sadder when it hits for me because it doesn't beat me over the head with its sadness. It creeps in, and festers. That's how I like my sadness.

illinois is just all over the place, it's not necessarily a sad album imo but casimir pulaski day brings the chills

Nah, it's not constantly sad, just sad when it needs to be.

All of his albums have sad parts
Even Age of Adz

John Wayne Gacy Jr. is as sad/affecting as anything here. There are also a few moments on Adz, but I get none of that from Seven Swans personally.

Really needed this album today.

last two tracks are absolute 5's
i love how sufjan never forces intensely saddening moods. this album makes it very difficult for me to take the new Nick Cave seriously in all honesty
|
| |
nick cave is sad and you should feel sad
|
| |
i feel sad that nick cave doesn't make me feel sad

Fourth of July still guts me with each listen, perfect balance of haunting and beautiful, which is actually this entire album
"We're all gonna die..."

Now I'm thinking about that song and now I'm sad

This album is pretty much the epitome of sadness.
I love it.
What’s left is only bittersweet
For the rest of my life, admitting the best is behind me
Now I’m drunk and afraid, wishing the world would go away
What’s the point of singing songs
If they’ll never even hear you?
fuck I'm gonna cry now

Fourth of July is probably my favorite as well. Too good. This album is so god damn emotional, I love it. Btw, if you haven't listen to it yet Boney, check out Songs About Leaving by Carissa's Wierd. That's an album that'll knock your socks off with pure distilled sadness.

No Shade for me.
There's blood on that blade
Fuck me, I'm falling apart
Damn. Those two lines are just crushing.
