maybe it will grow on me but the new song is zzzzzz. With all things considered the vox are actually ok. That instrumental though has to be the weakest one they have ever down. It feels like it doesn't really go anywhere..... and where the fuck are the trumpets????
People are naive if they think money wasn't a huge factor in making a new album

ehh, i don't remember when but in one interview he stated he's not interested in making another american football album exactly because he's not the same guy who wrote never meant anymore. now that it happened though, well yeah i'm pretty certain too it's just a cash grab. but dude can still make great music

song titles are cringe worthy
its another owen album with american football members as the studio musicians so they can sell the record and do another tour
dudes gotta feed his kid, but hes squandering the artistic legacy of the 1999 LP. nothing hes ever done in music including capn jazz is even close to the af album quality

'yet i know almost factually its a money opportunity'
'People are naive if they think money wasn't a huge factor in making a new album'
From the press release interview;
'Is there still that old punk rock concern that making another American Football record is a betrayal of some sort?'
'I dunno if it’ll be received as, “Oh these guys are all trying to cash in and they’re fucking dorks.” Maybe it’ll be more like: “Holy cow, I used to like this record, and now they made a record that’s way better than that.” Which is what we all think. If they liked that record, they’re gonna love this one. I hope people don’t overthink it. We didn’t. It was just, “This was more fun than we’d thought it’d be, let’s write more songs.'

yeah horrible answer, he hasnt made anything in his career that touches the quality of this record
dont need to hear the new record to be able to know it doesnt touch this one. as dumb as they may sound. he can argue it all he wants. this is being done because they made money from the reunion and the opportunity to make more is here. What other reason is there for an american football record 17 years later. when they were originally a band they came together and wrote the record in a college dorm barely played any shows and then broke up. kinsella already said everything he had to on the original record, 0 reason for new af music. new track is an owen song with af twinkles

I don't care what he says publicly. Even if they really had fun writing songs and the album ends up being awesome. Money is definitely still a huge factor behind it all.
If American Football didn't bring in any good revenue, he would just focus on Owen instead.
