Could be a 4.5, no? I guess it depends on how you rate, but personally I don't think that liking those albums a certain amount more means this has can't also be a 5. All my 5's aren't necessarily equal (although the way I rank Death, Symbolic/Leprosy/SH are pretty much interchangeable).



I think ITP is significantly better than all Death albums, but others are also just too good to not 5. I'd say it's more like stuff like ITP is even beyond a perfect 5/5, if that even makes sense lol

I get you lol everyone rates differently like you sai. 've always just felt that a 5 is a 5. That's the threshold. When you start 5ing records that's a perfect score I don't think there's different levels of perfect personally. I just don't see this on the level of symbolic that's a bit much imo if symbolic is a 5 to me this is a step or two below that yeah a 4-4.5 is about right.

Of course I have albums I think are 5's. I don't just 5 anything tho that I like. Some of these mfs 5'ing whole bands catalogs and shit on here. Like all 9 albums lol. When there's like only 1 5 to begin with. A 5 is something that should seldom be given out for the absolute best of the best. Reserved. Wheres the fun in 5'ing everything you really like if you don't think it's top 2 or 3 in the bands catalog that makes

I don't think it's all that serious though, I mean if you just consider something one of your favorite albums, then I think it's justified to 5 it. As far as how I personally rate stuff, I usually give an album a 4.5 if I think it is flawless, or near-flawless. And if I give it a 5, then it's something I like on a level that's just so far beyond others. Sometimes, that does mean multiple albums from one band. Sometimes, it's just one.



But I still don't consider all albums in any particular rating to be equal. Two albums can be perfect, or awful, or just great -- but you can still like one a bit more (or hate one a bit more). Like an Everflowing Stream is my favorite album of all time (out of any genre), so I if I had to like all my 5's as much as that, then I wouldn't be able to have any others lol.
