To be honest this is a massive nostalgia one for me clay
It was reminiscence in 96 as a factor in why I bought the thing because I’d loved the band so much in ‘94 but had largely forgotten about them when this came out. Time moved a lot quicker back then!!
I can still picture myself around that time listening to this and absolutely loving it. Even now I can listen to Getchoo, El Scorchio and Butterfly and nothing much has changed.

As much as people meme on this album for its problematic elements, i think thats kind of what makes it feel so real. Feels very honest to a fault, where its lyrics are so unfiltered. I get why rivers was so self-conscious about it after the albums release, the lyrics dont show a good side of him (pink triangle for example), but i think they evoke the mindset he was in, and i cant help but respect how raw they are, even though i dont agree with them. Musically speaking, this is the groups very best. Their music after this feels too sanitized and was obviously a reaction to the reception this album initially got

@samwise completely agree. Album is a masterpiece. The instrumentals are great and the lyrics are brutally honest while being slightly offensive. It really shows the inner thoughts of a late-teens/early 20-somethings worldview very well imo.
