Cool, that’s what I’m hoping. It was growing on me, but the thing is it doesn’t feel like it’s grown any further the past few listens so not sure how much more it will. It’s just perplexing to me because I feel like Long Drive and LCW are clearly and substantially better. Trying to see what others see in this...but it’s solid.

Somewhat unrelated note: next three bands I’m tackling the discogs of are The Mars Volta, The Dear Hunter and Manchester Orchestra. Can’t decide who the hell to listen to first.

Mars Volta are annoying as shit and Manchester Orchestra is just kind of boring so I'd say start with Dear Hunter

So you think you've figured out everything?

But we know in there that our minds are just made out of strings

To be pulled

Ugh this band is just too good. Been listening to them under three months and haven't even heard the full discog yet and they're already my second most scrobbled artist on last.fm out of over 3 and a half years of scrobbling.

Just not as good as Virgin Sails by Satan's Host.

I don’t think this is as good as Long Drive or TLCW. But it’s growing on me.

This is definitely better than Long Drive. Maybe not better than TLCW but I certainly like this one more.

This feels like their most complete album to me. While long drive and lcw have amazing aspects about them, i think that they perfected every aspect on here

For sure Pangea.

Though I almost consider Modest Mouse a different band starting with this album. Their 90s material sounds very different to me compared to everything they did starting with Night on the Sun/Parlour Tricks and this.

See, I read the criticisms of Long Drive and I guess I can understand feeling like it’s overlong, messy etc. But I don’t agree at all. I think the length and messiness are part of its charm honestly. It’s nearly as good as LCW for me.

TMAA definitely feels like a more complete album and less like just a collection of songs. I like it but feel like I’m not quite there as to loving it. But I think that will come in time. Definitely continues to grow for me. Might even bump my rating to a 4.
