Maybe I'm just a massive hipster but the prolonged sound of low string syncopated chugging from most projects immediately makes me recoil in disgust. I'm being hyperbolic, but I do sort of check out. It was so pervasive in metal for like 10 years that it makes playing a straighter, less busy rhythm sound rebellious.
