"wish people would stop calling this metalcore, its hardcore punk shit and it sucks"
I always thought they sounded more like grind than anything else, but hell this ain't hardcore punk at all

Anyway, how about that Mutoid Man single, amirite?

I mean it most definitely has hardcore punk in its dna. Distance and Meaning and Homewrecker are two songs that come to mind with some riffs that are pretty much straight up punk rock. There are definitely sections that are derivative of grindcore, which itself is derivative of hardcore punk. But there's thrash and shoegaze and post-hardcore and post-metal and whatever tf else they feel like doing on this as well.

That part. Idk, Converge fans with their merch on at hardcore and metal shows are pretty typical, last I checked. Part of why I never wear my Jane Doe shirt at shows. But you know, real metalcore fans at djent shows might be harder to come by.

I've gotta give this album another shot. Every time I've listened to it, something just hasn't clicked. I can see why people love it, but it's not doing it for me, and I can't figure it out

If you can't get into it, it's all good. There are plenty of classics in the sea, man
|
| |
True true! I guess it's sticking with me because I feel like I should love it, but I don't. Not many albums do that to me, so it's sorta sticking in my brain like an unfinished puzzle

If you had to listen to old metalcore/hardcore shit, I would recommend Botch, those guys go hard

Noted and added to my list! Any specific albums you'd recommend?

Um, sure
Vein.fm - Errorzone (Similar to Tallah)
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity
At the Drive-In - Relationship of Command (More post hardcore, but it's still fun as hell)
Omerta - Hyperviolence

Oh, I meant any Botch albums lol. Like, any favorites from them. I'll keep these in mind though as well!

^ with Botch’s discog being as short as it is and all of it being great, I’d personally recommend it all
