My first 'Verge record was probably Axe to Fall?? I couldn't get into Jane Doe at first cause I thought it sounded too old and roughly produced around 2012-2013?? Or something? lol Idk but in college, I trained my ears to be more open to more sounds and then this clicked like nothing else at the time when I was a sophomore or something. I love how damn diverse their songs can be with no break in cohesion. They've built a sound to where they can write literally any kind of song and have it make sense next to another and that's wild.

"My first 'Verge record was probably Axe to Fall??"
Jane Doe was my first, but it didn't fully click with me until I heard the band's later work. All We Love We Leave Behind is what fully converted me into being a big Converge fan

seems like a lot people fail to get into Jane Doe at first, but end up getting into Converge through another album and circling back around.
I totally get why this is a classic now, but I still think I prefer most of their other albums more stylistically. some of these songs here though are untouchable

Axe to Fall was my first Converge I properly listened to, that's the one I've shown friends in the past who are looking to get into them.

Jane Doe, Axe to Fall and AWLWLB are easily my top 3 Converge albums but I never know in what order. I swear this band is just too good.

The video for "Eagles Become Vultures" from 'You Fail Me' was packed into a monthly metal mag's cover DVD. That was my first view/listening exposure to them as a band, after hearing about them anecdotally as something worth knowing.
Bought YFM, then Jane and then the remastered albums with then-newly commissioned Aaron Turner cover art.
Very nearly two full decades and a big part of my music consumer background.

This band defined my high school years
But I can’t say I listen to them much if at all these days. Guess I’ve gone soft

I used to fucking despise Converge because of Bannon's vocals. Something one day finally clicked for me and Eagles Become Vultures was the track that started it off.
