Well that makes sense.

Maiden isn't that riff-focused though, but you may not dig their overall sound or their vocals.

"I tried listening for a good bassline and good drums, and they very rarely appeared..."

Thats exactly my point. You expected the album to be something its not instead of appreciating the great things it

was about.

I dunno if reccing Maiden's debut to Ars would be a good idea. I know he doesn't like Dickinson's vox, but maybe he'll like DiAnno's, I dunno.

Also, I think that Ars tends to prefer artists that are unpredictable, unconventional and/or downright weird, which definitely doesn't sit with bands like Priest.

Then they should have hired an exceptional bass player. : )

It wouldn't be the same, Ars. Take it from a longtime Priest fan. Some things are the way they are for a reason.

Priest did have skilled drummers though, my favorite of which is Binks.

so basically you're saying if you listened to a band without a bassist they would automatically be 1.0 no matter what

lol what? I gave Sad Wings a 2.5, not a 1.0.

If a band doesn't have a bassist at all, they should at least do something to make up for it like how The Doors have bass keyboard lines - which are great by the way. If everything was treble... that would kind of blow.

Thanks for taking me out of context and adding a ton of hyperbole, Nero.

Well the Black Keys are a snooze fest sooooooo

The White Stripes have bass parts in most of their songs, which are played by Jack White usually. He's basically The White Stripes' guitarist, lead singer, and bassist all in one, so nice try.
