I really feel like the production of this album took a step backwards if I had any real criticism about this release. It feels so drowned out sometimes and really takes away from the experience. Is that Nolly's fault? Misha's?

Nolly does say in the mixing masterclass for Wildfire that some of the production choices he probably wouldn't have made himself. He tried his hardest to accomplish the band's vision, and in particular he got the guitar tracks already printed. So yeah it's more on the band.

Personally I dig the production. It's a bit muddy but it hits really really hard most of the time.

Nu-metal kinda got around to being considered a moderately cool/hip genre to listen to in recent years, right?

I'll forever wait for the same thing to happen to Periphery as well.

This album is so stupidly hated on.

It’s so fucking fun and awesome. I’ll defend this album till the day I die

i think my only issue w this album is it kinda feels like a "greatest hits" comp with new lyrics and doesn't break too many new barriers bar "Silhouette", it doesn't feel quite as expansive as past work but it's still up to their standard enough to where it wouldn't feel out of place

They’ve never really made a legit album besides Stan and I will die on that hill

kinda. i like omega, p1 and p2 despite their problems but i feel like i have to add that asterisk lmao

this is pretty substandard for them. probably bottom 2 periphery (although dracul is probably a top 2 periphery song)

But that’s exactly what I’m saying. For every other album there’s a top periphery track on it and then just like… absolute bollocks lol

those albums the ratio is more so like 75-80% bangers rest is bad/janky so theyre likr 3.5s or 4s but not hail stan yfm. theyre still pretty good though

dont think any other album has the highs/lows ratio as unevenly as this, p3 is mostly just consistently not good lmao

P3 might genuinely still be a top 2 for them next to Stan

I will give you that the first two songs off it aren't incredible but Marigold onward?? Absolomb and Lune still haven't been topped by anything other than Satellites imo

If something on here made me weep the way Absolomb and Lune do i think I'd like it more

Yeah bubs I hear you but for me it’s really 50/50. Even when the tracks aren’t outright bad nothing grabs me

wildfire, atropos, zagreus, and dracul gras make up like 2/3s of the runtime and are all bangers

Don't want to admit it but the creatively took a nosedive at around P3. They pretty much admitted Juggernaut was just too much time and commitment so they didn't want to do it again. So now we just get this uninspired slop, yay.
