Sly rules, All This and War rules, The Whip rules lol. I think the only song that's growing off me is Feathers... great meaning behind it but it's definitely towards the bottom for me.

Feel like it's the kind of song you'll come back to again in 6 months and it's rodeo time like the first time

thing w feathers rules. the melodic dud has always been post boredom for me im done waiting around for it to grow. one of very few etid songs i outright dont like much. annoying ass grating song outside of the bridge. catch me skippin that on future jams
only other "dud" for me here is sexsexsex but i still like it just a fairly in one ear out the other song until the riff at the end and even then like idk there are better riffs here. i never skip that one tho since its still pretty good. used to be kinda eh on we go together but its grown on me considerably since this dropped song rules

Post Boredom has grown on me quite a bit since it was released as a single. Still don't love that part... everyone knows what I'm talking about lol but I can look past it because the rest of the song is so fun for me. The intro to We Go Together is so awesome, love the lyrics.

Lyrics to sexsexsex are what makes it great imo. In the past, there have been songs about philandering (i.e. Been Gone a Long Time, Two Summers "in and out of wedlocks with an exoskeleton key," Pigs Is Pigs, etc.) and it feels like Keith is at a point in his life when that type of lifestyle doesn't suit him anymore. It's a song about maturing beyond your vices and I respect the hell out of him for making that kind of progress

Thing With Feathers has grown on me so much that it might be a top 5 track on this album for me. I love that the song shares a similar title to Emily Dickinson’s poem “Hope is the Thing With Feathers”. Whether it was intentional or not it’s still a cool little connection knowing that Keith used to be an English teacher and has many references to literature in his lyrics.

@FitToSwing: Awesome username btw. It is confirmed that’s what it is a reference to
Dark Distance is also a reference to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, which is how she describes the ocean

@deathofasalesmen: Thanks man, Pigs is Pigs was one of the first ETID songs I heard and that brief line stood out so much. And that’s cool that it was confirmed. I was an English major in college and did a lot of analysis on Dickinson proms so that title immediately rung a bell. Keith might be one of my favorite lyricists.
