Boney: you can't assert with any degree of certainty that kid a wouldn't have existed if ok computer didn't tbh. Even if true, they doesn't inherently make ok computer a good album (playing devil's advocate here because I do enjoy the album)

OK Computer is a good album because it's a good album, not because of what came before and after it.

This album is amazing too. Shame on you guys who give it 3's and 2.5's.

It wouldn't have been the same without OK Computer, and Kid A came from the band being overwhelmed by the success of OK Computer. Without it we probably wouldn't have had Kid A in part due to context.

Gyro I'm not saying that that necessarily makes OKC good but I highly doubt they would ever have had the guts to make anything like Kid A if OK Computer hadn't gotten the massive acclaim that it did, and OK Computer was an expansion of what they did here.

I can accept that kid a likely wouldn't have existed if it weren't for ok computer. I mean, who knows what kind of album we would have gotten in its place. Who's to say it wouldn't have been even more experimental than kid a? There are too many variables. However, I don't think kid a at all sounds like an expansion of ok computer. They might as well be from two completely different bands. I don't hear a lot of influences from past albums tbh, barring optimistic and how to disappear

Exit Music isn't a million miles from Videotape or How to Disappear

You can hear some Subterranean and Let Down in the guitar tones of In Limbo

Later stuff you have Knives Out which has a lot of Paranoid Android, All I Need has a bit of Climbing Up the Walls and Jigsaw has a 'The Bends' feel

They didn't suddenly change into a totally different band

They evolved without completely forgetting where they came from and that's one of the best things a band can do.

The only thing videotape and exit music have in common is that they both refer to film
