Hard to compete with this first album. But I'm still impressed that Exul got as close to this as it did for me.

Damn that sucks, but I do like James’ vocals in Black Crown Initiate and people seemed to like him on tour with NeO.
From Xen’s statement, seems like he’s over the stress of touring. I won’t lie it also feels like he was throwing the tiniest bit of shade with his comments about not needing the “limelight” of the stage every night lol

Theres no shade or anything, its just not who Xen is. Lovely guy, but not everyone can jump on stage night after night. Also trying to match Tim's stage presence would be very hard

Just gave the whole discog another listen over the past week. As amazing as the other 3 albums are (Exul especially), I still have to give this the slight edge. So many moments throughout this that just give me chills.
Also I saw James live with these guys a few weeks back (the show was incredible) and he did a great job. Sad that I never got to see Xen live

Xen, the harsh vocalist who also does the artwork, has a funeral doom album this month with the frontwoman of Virgin Black and it's fantastic. https://spiine.bandcamp.com/album/tetraptych

Saw the boys live today and they crushed as usual.
The lead guitarist is so insanely talented it makes me want to throw my guitars into a wood chipper

James Dorton is Xen's replacement. I wasn't going to mention it since the show was really fantastic...
But if I had any critique, I would say that I feel James' vocals are a slight mismatch for the band honestly. He's a really good vocalist, but his vocals are a bit more guttural than Xen's for the most part.
It's not bad, but definitely not quite as good as the "real" thing

Xen and Charles dynamic was the heart of the live show. It just isn't the same now and the harsh vocal tone doesn't fit the band as well as Xen's higher more black metal type style
