I like Bordin quite a lot tbh. He's got a very individual style and elaborated technical skills.

Sir Jim Martin was not as versatile as Trey Spruance, but he was the soul of the band.
And anyone who disses puffy is gonna get punched by me, cos he's too nice to do it.

Martin certainly played an important role in the band's development, but I always disliked his demeanor and attitude, plus I don't think he's very well versed in terms of technical skills, but that's just my personal opinion of course.

as little influence as jim had on this album, the things he does are still cool but lets be real, mike and roddy stole this album and ran like the wind with it

They all brought different things to the table. Roddy brought the space. Puffy brought the groove. Gould brought the funk. Martin brought the mehtulz. And Patton brought...well you know.
Angel Dust is perfect, because despite the disparity of the sound of each musician FNM at all points sounds like nothing but itself. A perfect conglomeration. I always felt that after this and after Martin left they kinda started writing songs that were in different genres, but lost some of their unique identity.
