Getting into converge is best dpne backwards start from All we Love and go from there imo. No one is like Bannon tbh, his vocals may be one of the weaker sides of the band bit his sound is what makes them stick out and unique. This records a very tricky pill to swallow especially as ypur first converge record. Converge, Dillinger, Botch are like a holy trinity of math/hard/metalcore

Ah okay. Well you gave them a crack and its not for you then. This is one of the most unapproachable albums ive found, but its great when/if it clicks for you. Im more into TDEP than Converge.

Knut challenger is a masterpiece minus the production. The lyrics are what really solidify it for me. Takes a while to get into. The back half of the album is one of the best runs in metal imo

I have always said start with Axe to Fall; Von Till on "Cruel Bloom" borders on Doom/Sludge and can be a real door opener for getting into the rest of Converge's stellar discography.

I started in 2004 with the video for ‘Eagles Become Vultures’… there’s no real easy in with this sort of stuff… ‘Cruel Bloom’ (and ‘Wretched World’) you can like, but hate everything else around it; ultimately, the band is something you’d either (for the most part) adore, or just never see it.

You're probably right... everyone I've tried introducing converge to outside the internet is just like "he's just screaming" completely ignoring almost everything else about the musicianship.
Sometimes people just don't have an open mind for music and it's painful for fans when the kneejerk reaction is "you don't deserve to be called music"
