"mfao nah he’s a cunt with ties to far right nationalist groups. Go to any working class drinking establishment, ask them to play This Charming Man and see how fast you get the shit kicked out of you. The only people who give a toss about Morrissey anymore are rich white indie kids and racist old men who love how “problematic” his views are. Stop lying to yourself Zak, to be a working class hero, you have to be a hero to the working class. Morrissey isn’t a hero to anyone, he’s a washed up arsewipe who’s trying desperately to cling to fame by appealing to the white vest with egg stains crowd"

show on the doll where Morrissey touched you

@Hobble, i respect « the artist » inside the man. And, i don’t care about « the man » controversial view. Perso, motto. Cheers!

Morrissey has ties to far right nationalist groups... I don't know how this news slipped you all by. He wore a BNP badge, endorsed UKIP, made several comments about how Britain is becoming less white and we need to stop letting refugees enter. He also blamed the victims of Harvey Weinstein saying they should have known what was going to happen. He's not a "working class hero", he is a giant piece of shit. He was talented at one point but his recent solo albums have been dogshit

I currently do live on a council estate, it's not some badge of honour that allows you to get away with dumb takes. Plus, if you lived in tough economic conditions why are you defending a man who couldn't give less of a shit?

clearly Morrisey is both the figure Zak describes from the past and also a bit washed up and persona non grata in 2022

not mutually exclusive

Yeah sure, he used to be cool. But I completely reject the idea he's a working class hero, that's such a stupid thing to say, especially if Zak grew up on a council estate. Why would you want to worship a millionaire? Especially one who aligns himself with people who view the working class as feckless morons

sounds a lot like nostalgia fuelled admiration (if that's the case)

which I get... it can be hard to see your heroes fall from grace - you can still remember them for who they were, or what they once represented / meant to you personally.
