Overproduced greatest hits is what Dissociation is outside of two songs.

overproduced and mostly stagnant, that's right calc
they made the right choice by calling it a day with greg, he'd been dragging them down after option paralysis hard

Dissociation is cool but doesn't touch their first 4. It also doesn't help the first song on the album is the best

the Dissociation fun police has arrived
100% agree they had nowhere to go after that album though, breaking up was the right decision

Tuna got the best take
Idk how you can listen to Honeysuckle, Low Feels Blvd, Surrogate, or Nothing to Forget and call the album mid or something… even the more “Dillinger by the numbers” tracks like Manufacturing Discontent and Apologies Not Included rule.
The 3 track run from Symptom of a Terminal Illness to Fugue is kinda rough tho, that first one is probably the worst attempt they’ve made at a radio rock song, Wanting Not so much whatever the fuck it’s called kinda meanders a bit, Fugue is fun but does not belong on that record at all.
Everything else is mint

i think so as well. let out the complete bag and combined everything they had ever done into one great package. not the perfect album but the perfect final album. still kinda dig my rev of it from way back from when it came out haha!

Perfectly happy with a greatest hits as your send off and ending the band was the right choice.
Not happy with it sounding like plastic.

I liked Fugue. Sure it was a random squarepusher ripoff song, but where’s your sense of adventure? They’ve demonstrated a clear love for breaks/idm for a long time. Anyways, I loved Dissociation specifically because it felt like a greatest hits run of all the tropes they’ve developed over the years. I have it 5’d but I’m not sure how well it’d hold up now. As far as the production, they weren’t exactly ever the rawest.

I don't see how Dissociation is much more polished than any of their Greg albums really, especially post-Ire Works

Yeah, idk what’s so particularly sterile/plastic about it. Sounds like a logical, chronological step in Dillinger album production to me.

yeah dissociation is easily one of their better sounding albums imo. think ire works is prob the best they ever sounded
