I mean Will is truly incredible but has been firmly in his box with little to no ventillation for going on 2 decades.

Afterburner has resorted to nothing more than a fun summer jam every now and then for me

I mean who knows how much influence that Rise has on their songwriting as well. Members of the band have proven in Secret Band that they are still capable of writing terrific music but they might push for something more marketable. It’s obvious they are honing in on Tillian’s strengths as opposed to the rest of the band’s strengths. Jon Mess has been on the outskirts for like 2 albums now.

all of you should log off lol. poor dgd thought they were just making the music they happened to make but sputnikmusic informed them of their real agenda and now dgd understand they are in the illuminati.

mess may have been a little less present on this record, but there hasn't been any drops in his facetime on any of their last 4, i feel like that statement is mad misleading.

Artificial Selection literally has a song that's mostly Jon Mess and very little Tilian

In addition, on one of their more recent stand alone singles, Head Hunter, Mess had a substantial intro to the song before taking it over quickly and held it down throughout and it was comparatively one of their more successful and liked songs in recent years.

And they actually do write different songs in the last couple albums. We can go for tons of examples. And when they do the stuff that is blatantly different they get skewered for it like on Calimeinto. I never even heard this band until last year and have deep dived the three singers at the same time, Titian deserves more praise than anything else and the rest of the band does too.

Head Hunter and Blood Wolf should have been on the album in replacement for Three Wishes and One In A Million not even a question

"Artificial Selection literally has a song that's mostly Jon Mess and very little Tilian"
lol every release since IG has that one really heavy song that's sticks out as an odball, and to me just reads as them trying to satisfy a certain demographic while also adding to the fact that they've been rehashing ideas for years
I've no clue how some of you can see the last 2 releases as having strong Mess presence and even if that was the case they're still pop records, at least AS was fun

"And when they do the stuff that is blatantly different they get skewered for it like on Calimeinto."
nothing to do with the fact they took a detour but the fact the song is hot garbage
also your misspelling there is just how I'd imagine Tillian trying to pronounce it

Son of Robot has the laziest most washed sounding Mess part in DGD's discog and yet people think that's one of their best songs.
and there's like...barely any Mess on the song too

Head Hunter is ass, it's a mesh of every post Mothership DGD trope you can think of
Blood Wolf is siiiiick doe.
Three Wishes is a good pop song tbh. One In A Million really just has that ending going for it
