Haha.
But yeah sorry, it was an obscure reference to some live recording.

It isn't a joke, pal.
Seriously though I watched the making of Heritage and Mikael is kind of weird and awkward but it's sort of cute to watch him try and seriously talk to the camera. At one point he's playing some tracks in a DAW and it starts singing and he's like ''Oh started singin'' like he didn't know it was coming. Then he zooms into the logo of the studio for some reason. Idk something about that is funny as shit.

As close we've gotten to an "Opeth" album since Watershed.
Very underrated.

You're forgetting about Heritage

I dig them all, even Pale Communion; but this one in particular reminds me of the Ghost Reveries-Watershed era.

This and PC are solid, but if anything the biggest musical impact either album has had for me is how much more they made me appreciate Heritage, my most jammed Opeth album aside from maybe BWP.

I agree with Faraudo here... this is the closest to Opeth's mid-2000s prog metal days

We need another Storm Corrosion, that's the best thing Mikael's been involved in since Ghost Reveries.

Weird, I feel like that's his worst output.

I don't think he should growl again tbh. I even think he should so fewer of the growl songs live. It probably a pretty unpopular opinion, but I'm afraid he could lose his voice and he doesn't seem to enjoy it anyway

More occult folksy psych/prog rock like the mellower moments of this and Heritage, and the Storm Corrosion project is what I'd like to hear from Opeth/Akerfeldt in the future, cause yea the metal and growling is going to remain in the past.

The Fall of Hearts was a great example of that classic Opeth sound done in a more straightforward, traditional heavy metal approach. I'm curious what Akerfeldt means by darker, hopefully less cheesy singing and lyrics, cause that's been a bit much with parts of this and PC.

He's taking a sabbatical to spend time with family for now.
^That's a good decision.
I'd be happy with another Heritage

Fredrik Akesson actually described this one as darker than the previous two, which I'm not sure is that true but maybe at parts.
A new album coming out in 2019 doesn't sound like that long of a sabbatical, but I'm glad that I can hear a new one in a year.
