"i can't believe that people have listened to this artist's discog and still believe this is a good record for the artist"
this album has so much more texture than both KNY and DE tho. Melodies are stronger too. really think some people are missing something here

they played Hexagram when i saw 'em earlier in the year, but yeah it looks like they're quickly black to entirely "glossing over" the mid-2000s part of their career again
man what the fuck, who are these people that are still going out for Adrenaline songs

i just peeped all their setlists following the album release,
they're routinely playing literally half of around the fur, a third of diamond eyes, absolutely nothing from s/t or SNW, and no more than two tracks from the album they're touring on
bizarre

When I saw them live a couple years ago, the Adrenaline (and kind of ATF) songs in the set were the best performances in my opinion. I can't imagine going to a Deftones show and them not playing either 7 Words, Engine No. 9, or Root.

Album is good because it's still recognizably Deftones, and that's never a bad thing.
However, it's far from their best work--and in some instances, feels like Carpenter wanted to take the music one direction, while Chino wanted to take it in another.
I don't think they need to go back to a sound from the 90s that is sure to sound outdated by today's standards in order to please fans... but if they can't put out a more inspired album than this one going forward then what's the point?
At this point, they just need to release Eros and tide everyone over until Carpenter and Chino can figure out how to move this band forward.

I saw them before I was I really was into them, which is weird to think about. That was probably close to 10 years ago, which is also weird. The show did convince me that they might have a few things for me and that's ended up being an understatement.

listened to about half of this earlier today and probably liked it even more than before
not their best record or anything, and i don't neccesarily agree with it having more atmosphere than KNY or whatever, but it's far from a let down
